1 only the first letter or two lead; at 5 most of the word is bold, which is heavier but can help when the text is dense or unfamiliar. Start at 3 and move it while you read a real paragraph — the right setting is the one you stop noticing.
Copy for Docs puts formatted text on the clipboard, so Google Docs, Word, Notion and email all paste it with the bolding intact. Copy Markdown and Download .md give you **Th**e **qui**ck instead — Markdown applies bold in the middle of a word, so Obsidian, GitHub, Bear and anything else that reads Markdown will show it bionic. The tail-contrast slider is a screen setting only; exports carry the bold and nothing else.
